If you’ve ever wondered how much gear really fits in a camper van, we’ve got answers. Our Inventory Manager, Ryan, was heading out for a week-long trip—packing everything from bikes and paddleboards to climbing gear, fishing rods, and a full week’s worth of food.
In this post, we walk through exactly how he packed his Geotrek van, from the garage to the kitchen to the upper cabinets—and why thoughtful storage design makes all the difference.
Garage Space: Built for the Big Stuff
The garage is where packing started—and where the Geotrek design shines. The elevated bed platform leaves plenty of room for oversized gear, with the ability to fit up to three bikes just by removing the front wheels.
On one side, the water tank and outdoor shower are tucked neatly into the driver’s side cabinet; on the passenger side, the battery system stays out of the way but easy to access.
Bonus cubbies built into the garage add space for loose items like gear bags, tools, or muddy shoes.
Kitchen: Smart Storage for Food and Fuel
Next up: food and cooking essentials. The van’s dual-drawer fridge and freezer make it easy to pack a full week’s worth of meals and drinks.
Below the kitchen counter, Ryan stored the induction cooktop in a dedicated drawer alongside utensils and knives. The design keeps surfaces clear while making daily use fast and frustration-free.
Upper Cabinets: Organized, Accessible, and Soft-Close
The overhead cabinets make it easy to stash plates, bowls, cookware, and even produce. With soft-close hinges and latches that stay shut while driving, they’re built for the road.
Ryan used the middle and rear upper cabinets to store clothes, books, and camera gear.
Even with a full load for the week, there was room to spare.
Hidden Compartments & Smart Extras
One of the most versatile storage spots? The bench seat. Ryan used it to stash dirty boots, wet gear, and yes, even a watermelon.
And what do you do with the stuff you don’t want out in the open? We get asked about the trash can all the time. Under the sink is the go-to spot. There’s room for a trash bin, recycling, and even a yoga mat. Those small essentials that tend to matter more than you think on long trips.
Final Load: All Packed and Ready to Roll
With everything loaded—gear, food, and week-long supplies—there was still space left.
That’s the advantage of a thoughtfully designed build: no wasted space, and no stress when it’s time to hit the road.
Whether you’re heading out solo or with a crew, a Geotrek van is built to handle real adventures.
