Question 1

How do you keep a dog cool when a camper van is parked?

Accepted Answer

Look for a camper van with a dedicated house A/C system that can run independently of the engine, along with ventilation, window covers, and a way to monitor the interior temperature. Geotrek uses a Velit 2000R A/C, awning windows, window covers, and the Necto temperature-monitoring app.

Question 2

How much fresh water should a camper van carry for a dog?

Accepted Answer

There isn't one number that works for every trip because your needs depend on the number of people and pets traveling, weather, trip length, and access to water along the way. Geotrek carries 24-43 gallons of fresh water, giving you an onboard supply for both people and pets.

Question 3

Is there room for a large dog in a camper van?

Accepted Answer

It depends heavily on the floor plan. Pay attention to open floor space, aisle width, where the dog will sleep, and whether that spot interferes with seating or everyday movement through the van. A dedicated dog bed or crate location is more useful than simply having a large interior.

Question 4

Where should my dog sit when I'm driving?

Accepted Answer

Your dog should have a spot that's secure, out of reach of the pedals and driver's seat, and that won't shift around if you brake suddenly. Geotrek's Dog Bed fits between the front seats, close enough to keep an eye on them. Use a pet restraint to keep them secure while the van is moving.

Question 5

How do you clean up a muddy dog after a hike?

Accepted Answer

Look for durable, easy-clean flooring and exterior water access. Geotrek combines grey coin flooring with a built-in outdoor shower so you can rinse off dirt and mud before your dog comes inside.
