What Makes a Fully Loaded Bear Peak Worth It? A Real Van Breakdown

Share

TheΒ Geotrek Bear Peak is one of our most popular builds, and for good reason. At $113,650, you get a premium adventure van with custom cabinetry, proven AWD capability, serious off-grid power, and everything you need to get out there. It’s not a budget build. It’s a smart one.

But everyone has their own adventure style, which is why we offer upgrade options.Β

We sat down with Ryan, our Inventory Manager, to walk through a fully loaded 2025 Bear Peak and see what’s possible when you go all-in on upgrades. From hot water systems to off-grid AC, here’s what a maxed-out Bear Peak looks like, and why this customer chose each upgrade.

Β

The Base Bear Peak: What You Get at $113,650

The Bear Peak isn’t a starting point that needs work. It’s a complete adventure van that’s ready to go:

  • 2025 Mercedes Sprinter 144″ AWD – Custom ordered, not a dealer lot gamble
  • Driver and passenger swivel seats – Both heated
  • EcoFlow 5kW battery system – Serious off-grid power
  • Full kitchen – Inset sink with flush cover, storage, prep space
  • Bench seat with Lagoon swivel – Comfortable seating, flexible layout
  • Front MaxxAir fan – Excellent ventilation
  • Rear MaxxAir fan – Keep air flowing throughout
  • North-south sleeping area – Reading lights, USB-C ports, easy access to systems
  • Custom bamboo and Baltic birch cabinetry – Built in-house, not outsourced
  • 24-gallon fresh water tank – Serious capacity for off-grid living
  • 5-gallon grey tank – In-cabinet storage
  • Espar diesel heater – Stay warm anywhere

That’s a $113,650 van that can handle serious adventure right out of the gate.

So why did this customer add nearly $14,000 in upgrades? Let’s break it down.

Hot Water System: The Upgrade That Changes Everything

What it is: 4-gallon hot water heater (standard on Flatiron, optional on Bear Peak)

The base Bear Peak has a 24-gallon fresh water tank and a full kitchen setup. But it doesn’t come with hot water. This customer added it.

Why it matters: Hot water transforms the van. Washing dishes in cold water gets old fast. So does rinsing off after a hike with freezing water. The hot water system isn’t about luxury, it’s about making van life sustainable long-term.

Ryan’s take: “The hot water system makes it a complete kitchen experience.”

Cost: $850

Outdoor Shower: Rinse Off Anywhere

What it is: Rear spray-off shower system (standard on Flatiron, optional on Bear Peak)

The outdoor shower connects to your water system and gives you a hose and spray nozzle at the rear of the van.

Why it matters: Rinse off after a hike, wash your dog, clean muddy gear, or take a quick shower at a trailhead. And if you’ve added the hot water system, you’re not dealing with freezing cold water.

Cost: $750

Kitchen Upgrades: Induction Cooktop + Microwave

What it is: Induction cooktop and a microwave that actually fits food inside

The base Bear Peak has full kitchen prep space and storage, but this customer added real cooking capability.

Why it matters: You’re not just reheating leftovers or boiling water. You’re cooking actual meals. The induction cooktop is efficient, fast, and doesn’t heat up your van. The microwave handles everything from morning oatmeal to late-night popcorn.

Cost: $750

Power & Climate: Doubling Down on Capability

10kW Battery System (vs. Standard 5kW)

The standard EcoFlow 5kW system on the Bear Peak is excellent. It’ll run your lights, charge your devices, power your fridge, and handle your kitchen needs. But this customer doubled it to 10kW.

Why? The AC unit and microwave.

If you’re planning to run an air conditioning system off-grid or you want the freedom to use high-draw appliances without worrying about your battery, the 10kW upgrade makes sense. If you’re mostly running fans, lights, and a fridge, the 5kW is plenty.

Cost: $6000

48V Off-Grid AC Unit (vs. MaxxAir Fans)

The Bear Peak comes with MaxxAir fans front and rear. They’re excellent for ventilation and work in most conditions. The Flatiron comes with a Velit 2000R AC unit as standard, but the Bear Peak doesn’t.

This customer added a 48V off-grid AC unit above the bed. That means sleeping comfortably even when it’s 95Β°F outside.

Why it matters: You can’t adventure if you can’t sleep. The AC unit isn’t about luxury,Β  it’s about extending your season and your range. Desert camping in July? No problem.

Cost: $4250

Comfort & Convenience: Small Upgrades, Big Difference

Bench Cushion

Standard Bear Peak includes the bench seat. The cushion is an add-on.

Why it matters: Whether you’re working from the van, eating breakfast, or just hanging out, the cushion transforms the bench from functional seating to an actual comfortable space. It’s one of those upgrades you don’t think about until you have it, then you can’t imagine going without it.

Cost: $125

Slide-Out Tray

One of Ryan’s favorite upgrades. The Geotrek slide-out tray lives in the garage area and gives you easy access to bikes, gear, or storage without crawling into the back of the van.

Why it matters: Convenience. You’re not unloading half your garage to grab your bike or a piece of gear buried in the back.

Cost: $950

Does Your Bear Peak Need Upgrades?

The Bear Peak at $113,650 is a complete van. These upgrades don’t make it “complete”. They customize it for specific needs.

If you want extended off-grid capability:

  • Hot water system
  • Outdoor shower
  • 10kW battery upgrade
  • 48V AC unit

These four upgrades turn the Bear Peak into a year-round adventure machine.

The Bear Peak is popular because it gives you choices. Start with a premium build at an accessible price, then add exactly what matches your adventure style.
