Meet Ash, Amanda, and their van — lovingly named Vanna White. This 2024 Geotrek custom van, built on our Albatross layout, has already taken them across national parks and off-grid adventures, and along the way they’ve made a few upgrades to make it their own.
Up Front: Cozy Comforts & Personal Touches
Right behind the driver’s seat, Ash and Amanda added custom cushions to the Geotrek bench for extra comfort. A clever KickUp panel (rated to 300 lbs) means they can stretch out in the swivels or sit side by side on the bench. It’s the perfect hangout spot after a long hike.
And on the fridge? A growing collection of magnets from every national park they’ve visited — their rolling scrapbook of adventures.
Kitchen & Storage Upgrades
In the galley, they opted for a bamboo sink cover and added a spice rack that doubles as storage for everyday items like vitamins and toothbrushes. Below, cookware and dishes tuck neatly into cabinets designed for easy access.
Up front, a headliner shelf adds more storage, while a custom thermal curtain helps regulate temperature and privacy.
Sleeping East-West
Ash and Amanda customized their Albatross with bump-outs, transforming the standard north–south bed into an east–west setup. The extra room lets them stretch out, and with built-in reading lights, bedtime often means winding down with a good book
They also upgraded from the standard 4kWh EcoFlow system to a 6kWh setup, letting them stay off-grid for up to five days without worry.
The Garage: Adventure Gear HQ
For Ash and Amanda, the garage is the heart of their build. It holds:
- Two fold-down e-bikes
- A pullout gear tray
- Hiking essentials, tent, and sleeping bags
- Van Essential organizers for shower gear
Speaking of showers: their outdoor shower setup includes hot water, a curtain, and storage for shampoo and soap — all within reach.
Exterior Details
On the outside, they chose side steps for easier access, rugged BFGoodrich KO3 tires, upgraded rims, and a side ladder to keep solar panels clean in winter.
